Zircon, Zirconia and Zirconium Oxide

It is very easy to confuse these three stones given the ambiguity of their names.

 

The real stones are diamond and zircon (zirconium silicate).

Synthetic stones are zirconia (zirconium oxide) and zirconium.

Zircon : natural stone

This is a natural stone , the zirconium silicate which when extracted had a dark brown, green or red color, which changes color when heated.

Once heated and cut, this stone can take on various colors and has a magnificent shine.

It is a fragile stone, it is often mounted in a closed setting.

Its price ranges from €80 to €1000 per carat, it is affordable.

Zirconia : synthetic stone

Also called zirconium oxide (falsely called zirconium).

It is an artificial stone , it is the same as synthetic diamonds.

It can be pink, black, white...


 

 

 

Zirconium : metal

Extracted from Zircon, it is a metal .

It is used in the nuclear sector.
