The 7 chakras are "energy centers," junctions through which vital energy flows.

A chakra corresponds to a major nerve center in the body, affecting the area it represents. It acts on the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual levels.

The 7 chakras
They are aligned along the axis of the spine, through which vital energy flows from bottom to top, meaning from the 1st chakra to the 7th chakra.

First chakra: Root chakra or Muladhara

The root chakra is symbolized by a 4-petaled lotus, the color red, and the "Earth" element.

This energy center, connected to the adrenal glands and sexual organs, is located at the perineum, but it also encompasses the first three vertebrae, the bladder, and the colon.

The first chakra provides the strength for survival and the strength to assert oneself. It represents our attachment to Mother Earth, and its fundamental action consists of rooting ourselves in matter, including the essential basic needs for life: material, physical, and earthly.

Second chakra: the Sacral chakra or Swadhistana

The 2nd root chakra is symbolized by a 6-petaled lotus; its color is orange and its element is "water." The 2nd chakra is located between the pubic bone and the navel. It is connected to the kidneys, bladder, and bodily fluids such as blood, lymph, cerebrospinal fluid, etc.

An imbalance or blockage in the Swadhistana can manifest as a lack of motivation, low libido, or a lack of self-confidence, among other things. This chakra is responsible for creativity, passion, and the joy of living.

Third chakra: the Solar Plexus chakra or Manipura

This chakra is symbolized by a 10-petaled lotus; its color is yellow and it is connected to the "fire" element. It is located at the solar plexus, 3 cm above the navel. It is connected to the liver, gallbladder, digestive system, as well as the lower back.

This chakra is the source of personal power, determination, and the ability to act. An imbalance or blockage in the Manipura chakra can signify an inability to distinguish oneself from others or an exacerbated desire to always be right.

Fourth chakra: the Heart chakra or Anahata

The symbol of the heart chakra is a 12-petaled lotus; its element is "air" and its color is green. This chakra is located at the heart, in the middle of the chest, and ensures the connection between the body and emotions: compassion and love.

The 4th chakra is linked to the functioning of the heart and blood circulation, as well as the upper back. An imbalance or blockage of this energy center explains a fear of approaching others or an excessive feeling of superiority.

Fifth chakra: the Throat chakra or Vishuddha

Its symbol is the 16-petaled lotus; its color is blue, its element is "ether," and it is located at the base of the throat. It is thus connected to the thyroid glands, as well as the larynx, vocal cords, ears, nape, etc.

This chakra is the center of expression and communication. Its imbalance or blockage explains shyness or excessive chatter, and difficulty in being sincere.

Sixth chakra: the Third Eye chakra or Ajna

It is symbolized by a 2-petaled lotus subdivided into 48 petals. Its color is indigo. This chakra is located between the eyebrows. It acts on the pituitary gland and is connected to the face, eyes, sinuses, and brain.

This chakra, related to the vision of reality and intuition, is the seat of higher mental forces promoting extrasensory perceptions, intellect, and imagination. Its imbalance or blockage can manifest as a lack of awareness or an intellectual superiority complex.

Seventh chakra or Crown chakra or Sahasrara

This chakra, which is located at the top of the skull, is symbolized by the thousand-petaled lotus. Its color is violet.

It is the chakra of enlightenment or self-realization. An imbalance or blockage of this chakra can translate into systematic skepticism or an existential void.
